The convention was great! A steady flow of people throughout the day tapering off at about 5:30pm. Eric and I had a great time and met a ton of new people. We gave out a fair share of books. If you picked up a copy of our book, drop us a line and let us know what you think.

Next up INDY Comic Week December 30th. We will let you know where you can find your favorite Meanwhilers and help support local stores during Diamonds skip week.

Also submissions for Meanwhile #3 are due next Sunday November 15th. Looking forward to seeing the new stories.

Last But Not Least the Final New Member for Issue #2

Eric turned me onto Luster Kaboom's work sometime during the middle of the summer.

While at the August First Friday we met the man himself, while handing out copies of Meanwhile #1. Eric asked if he would submit work for a future issue of Meanwhile and about a week later we received several one page pieces.
We are thrilled to have Luster Kaboom as a part of the Meanwhile Collective and you will be thrilled too, once you check out his work at his website.

That's it for new members. Look for information on how/when to submit for issue #3 in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile Welcomes the Powers Brothers

Jefferson and Jason Powers hail from Portland and Tulsa respectively. I do not know alot about this two, but when Eric shared there submission story with me, I knew we had to have it in an issue of Meanwhile. The punchline to their story still makes me smile, even weeks after originally reading it.
For more information on Jefferson Powers hit up his website.

Follow Jason Powers at his blog.

Welcome to the crew boys!

New Member from Down Under

Please Welcome Anthony Pike, to the Meanwhile Collective. When I received Anthony's story and then realized he was from Australia, I was in shock. I thought how did this guy, from another country, hear about us and our little mini-comic.
However he discovered us, I'm glad he did. I have been enjoying his Blombo Tales webcomic since discovering it. Work by Anthony can also be found at Dragonhaunt. If you're a fan of Twitter, you can follow Anthony here. Also check out his Facebook page, if you are so inclined.

2 more members to welcome, 2 more days to go until the debut of Meanwhile #2!
Hope to see you at First Friday!

Rafael can be contacted through email at napoleon@yahoo.com

Welcome

I would like to introduce you to the Meanwhile Collective, we are a group of like minded mini-comic creators. We love the fact that anyone can create a mini comic. All you need is a pencil, a pen, some paper and a photocopy machine. Our goal is to get more eyes viewing our work.

At this time our members consist of

Eric Mengel - creator of Blind Mice. Eric has been working on mini-comics since the mid-90's and is a staple of the Arizona mini-comics scene. His latest book Blind Mice #9 was release on Free Comic Book Day 2009 and has a nice trade paperback collection of issues #1-7 available. Currently, Eric Is hard at work on issue #10.

dennmann - creator of Get That Chicken. Denny started working on mini-comics in the mid-90's, however he fell of the wagon in the late-90's only to resurface in 2008 better than ever. His latest book Get That Chicken #9 was released about 2 weeks ago. Currently, Denny is hard at work on his weekly Get That Chicken strip which he plans to collect every other month or so in mini-comic format.

Do you do mini comics?

Have you wanted to do mini-comics?

Would you like to become a member of the Meanwhile Collective?

Well we are looking for more members. We hope to form a very diverse group, whom all share a love for the mini-comic format. We plan to release a quarterly mini-comic anthology and hand it out for free at any location that will let us (news on our first in-store appearance will follow shortly.) The goal is to keep the book PG (PG-13 at most.) Each member will have up to 8 pages per issue available to showcase their work. We will include contact information for each member, plus a short bio. At this time we cannot pay any of our members for their work, but we can supply you with a couple of handfuls of the issue that you appear in to hand out in your local area (that's right you do not have to be from Arizona to be include as a member.)

Deadline for membership for issue #1 is June 27th. Your work must be in our hand on this date so that Meanwhile Issue #1 can be completed in time for our first in-store date. There are two ways to submit your work: 1) You can either email us clean digital copies of your work or 2) Send clean photocopies to: Meanwhile Collective, P.O. Box 41445, Phoenix, Arizona 85080. (Unless you include a S.A.S.E. your work will not be returned.)

If you have more questions please feel free to email us.

Happy Creating,
the Collective
